Minerals

Minerals are substances that occur in nature, in the soil and in rocks and are taken up by the roots of plants and therefore find their way into animals. We as humans take on board these minerals both from the consumption of animal products (meat) and plant sources (vegetables, fruit).

The body contains about 22 known minerals which are considered essential for a healthy body and of course life itself.

The table illustrated displays some of the minerals that we need, where they can be obtained, their function and what may occur if we become deficient.
